What is a divining pendulum?

A pendulum is a small object suspended from a string or chain that reacts to the micro-movements of your body or energy fields. It can be used to answer questions, detect energies, or validate a feeling.

Used for centuries, it is still today one of the simplest and most powerful tools of dowsing.

Why choose a handmade wooden pendulum?

Wood is a noble, living, and vibrant material. Unlike metal or plastic, it offers a soft, natural, and neutral energy, ideal for refined and personal energy work.

Benefits :

  • More subtle vibration and connected to nature

  • Unique handcrafted aesthetics

  • Each essence has its own symbolism and energy.

  • Local, responsible and customizable manufacturing

Choice of wood species:

Here is an overview of the essences I use for my hand-turned pendulums, each having a particular energy:

  • If – The Soul Passer

Transformation, intuition, connection to the invisible world.

  • Walnut – The Silent Clairvoyant

Lucidity, introspection, mental protection.

  • Olivier – The tree of peace and truth

Spirituality, gentle guidance, emotional balance.

  • Chestnut – The Rooted Healer

Healing, resilience, emotional release.

  • Boxwood – The precise and protective

Mental clarity, finesse, subtle protection.

  • Hazel – The Intuitive Messenger

Clairvoyance, capturing energy flows.

  • Ash – The mediator between worlds

Connection to spiritual planes, celestial anchoring.

  • Oak – The Rooted Protector

Strength, stability, deep roots.

Shapes and the importance of shape

Each shape influences the vibration of the pendulum:

  • Conical: lively, ideal for quick responses

  • Spherical or ovoid: more stable, for emotional issues

  • Lying down: very sensitive to energy fields

  • Personalized shape: balanced according to your feelings

  • A good pendulum should be centered, balanced, and comfortable to hold.

Introduction to woodturning
Stage Initiation - découverte du tournage sur bois

A bit of history and tradition

Pendulums were already used in ancient Egypt, among the Druids, the Romans and in Chinese traditions.

They were used to find water, locate lost objects or contact subtle forces.

Today, they are making a strong comeback in modern practices of spirituality, energy healing and personal development.

Contemporary uses

A divinatory pendulum can be used to:

  • Making decisions

  • Check a feeling

  • Working on your chakras

  • Test a place or object

  • Accompany meditation or an oracle reading

Wood energy and geology

The wood used for my clocks comes from local trees in Creuse, often ancient and rich in history.

They grew on mineral-rich soils, influenced by the geology of the area. This natural memory remains present in the vibration of the wood.

I have been supplying pendulums to some local geobiologists for the past two years. They offer my handmade pendulums to their students at the beginning of their geobiology courses so that they can learn how to use and master them under their guidance and expert supervision.
